On the suggestion of WHO’s Technical Advisory Group on Virus Evolution, WHO recognized the variety B.1.1.529 as a variant of concern, dubbed Omicron, on November 26, 2021. (TAG-VE). This conclusion was made based on data submitted to the TAG-VE that Omicron contains a number of alterations that could affect how it acts, such as how easy it spreads or the severity of the sickness it causes.
Sensing Technology is one that detects and responds to inputs from the physical surrounding, be it light, pressure, heat, moisture, motion, smoke, or gas. Sensing systems processes the input in the control unit by means of embedded microprocessors and wireless communication systems, which in turn communicates to the output devices.
Unarguably, the increasing rate of building collapse in the country despite advancement in technology, involvement of professionals and the periodic review of building codes is worrisome. Fire safety is a fundamental consideration in building design and management, but unfortunately, one that is often overlooked as concepts like firewalls are today more likely to be associated with IT security than with physical safety. This concept utilizes both passive and active means for fire risk detection and mitigation. From an engineering perspective, fire risks are avoidable to residual levels or to As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) and this is achieved using proper engineering principles benchmarked to several performance criteria to prevent the occurrence of a fire incident or contain and extinguish the incipient fire.
People talk about the cybersecurity job market like it’s a monolith, but there are several different roles within cybersecurity, depending not only on your skill level and experience but on what you like to do. In fact, Cybercrime Magazine came up with a list of 50 cybersecurity job titles, while CyberSN, a recruiting organization, came up with its own list of 45 cybersecurity job categories. Similarly, OnGig.com, a company that helps firms write their job ads, analyzed 150 cybersecurity job titles and came up with its own top 30 list. Barely a week after a gas leakage was reported around the Lekki axis where residents were grateful that God averted such a major disaster, another tragedy occurred. A gas explosion was reported at Ojekunle Street, Ladipo, Mushin area on Tuesday 16, 2021. The unfortunate incident was ignited by a phone call from a customer who went to refill a gas cylinder as the location of the incident is under a power line.

Every profession celebrates their heroes, achievers, mentors, icons and legends as pacesetters to sustain the professional practice and culture of excellence. Such a glamorous event happened on the 12th of November 2022. Practitioners and stakeholders in the safety industry from all over Africa converged at The Lagos Continental Hotel to celebrate the profession of safety. Among the participants were the sponsors, supporters, award nominees and host of other participants.
